How Collins Can Help

Collins Library is here to help you! We subscribe to lots of resources that are available electronically and you can access these materials easily from your dorm or on the road. This page highlights ways to keep connected to useful research resources and services even when you're out of town for a game or tournament, or when you're finished with practice and workouts and hitting the books in the middle of the night.
Your professors expect you to collect information from academic resources—not just free Internet resources from Google or Wikipedia —so follow these easy steps to reach all the resources available to you and do successful research. Go Loggers!

Research Help

Ask a Puget Sound Librarian: E-mail for reference assistance from a subject liaison librarian. Puget Sound librarians work closely with faculty and can provide personalized assistance on your research. Depending on your question, we might resolve it by email, or suggest setting up an in-person appointment, so that we can work in-depth together.

Best for: Any question, but especially in-depth research questions.

Ask a Librarian 24/7 service: Anytime, anywhere! This instant messaging reference service lets you chat with a librarian no matter what time it is. Puget Sound librarians can email you to follow up if you leave your email address.

Best for: Questions that can't wait but come up when the library is closed, quick questions.

Course Guides: Librarians often prepare guides for specific classes that focus on the tools students will need to complete their research. Check the list, or check the research gateway page for your subject. Current classes are listed in the right menu.

Best for: Getting started on a particular class assignment.

Get Connected

If you live on campus, access to library resources is as easy as coming to the library during open hours or opening up the resources on the library web site, which provides access to thousands of resources literally at your fingertips.

But of course, as a student athlete you might need to work on a paper or assignment while you're on the road or out of town. You can still access all our online resources, no matter where you are.

Simply go to the library web page, click on the resource you need, and enter your network ID & password when the login page pops up.

It's unlikely you'll have trouble, but if you do, there are easy troubleshooting steps to ensure you connect via our EZPROXY user page.

Start your research on the library site because Collins Library subscribes to many electronic books, magazines, and other resources that are only available to UPS students. A Google search can't get you these subscription resources. Connecting through our web site lets the EZproxy do the hard work!
